Could this indicate that the serial number range was held back and issued out of sequence specially for Colt Employees? Or could be that they were simply shipped later in the run. Date of shipment is listed as for number #43. Additionally, the "Remarks" section states in part "The Marine pistols in this edition were specially offered to Colt employees and represent the last production run of the Colt M45A1 Close Quarters Battle Pistols to be produced with the USMC rollmark". Originally said to number just 200, however we have seen serials above that number sequence and now believe it to be 300 (give or take a few, per a Colt source)ĪDDED INFO: ColtForum member who posseses both #43 and #44 sent me a picture of the factory letter, and the fact that is it an "EMPLOYEE EDITION" is indeed mentioned in the letter. Factory will letter it to an actual Colt employee.
